NHS funding overview
For UK students undertaking certain health and social care courses, may be available.
NHS Learning Support Fund
The NHS learning support fund is funding to support eligible undergraduate healthcare students, including:
Nursing and Midwifery
• midwifery
• nursing (adult, child, mental health, learning disability, joint nursing, or social work)

What you could get
NHS LSF is made up of four main elements. What you get depends on your circumstances.
1. You can apply for a Training Grant of £5,000 per academic year, or a pro rata amount for part-time students. Students on certain courses can get a Special Subject Payment, which is an extra £1,000 (mental health nursing and radiography).
2. If you have at least one dependent child under 15 years old (or 17 if registered with special education needs) you can also receive Parental Support. This is a grant of £2,000 per academic year or a pro rata amount for part-time students.
3. If you paid for any excess travel or accommodation costs on a placement, you can claim money back through .
4. If you’re experiencing unforeseen financial hardship, you may be able to claim up to £3,000 through the .

Social Work bursaries
Social Work Bursaries:
• can help with study and living costs
• do not need to be paid back
• get paid into your bank account at the start of each term
• are only available to students who meet the course and residency criteria
• are limited (or capped) so there’s only a certain number available each academic year
• must be applied for each year
• are only available to students who normally live in England.

ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Bursary is non-repayable support for full- and part-time UK students to help with the costs of being at University, and is linked to your annual household income.
