Profile

I am a Research Fellow in Health Data Analytics in the , based in the 绿帽换妻 Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA). I have a BA in Geography from the 绿帽换妻, after which I worked in industry for 5 years as a Location Planning Analyst. I then returned to the 绿帽换妻 to complete an MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and PhD in Health Geography, investigating spatial and social variations in bowel cancer incidence and survival. I was also part of the inaugural cohort of Data Scientists on the .

I lead on Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activity within the research team and have recently established a Multimorbidity PPIE group. I am on the Academic Advisory Group for the LIDA Data Scientist Development Programme and through this I am involved in the outreach project, inspiring secondary school students about careers working with data.

Research interests

My research interests focus on geographic and socio-demographic variation in health. I have experience applying statistical analysis techniques and geospatial methods to a range of healthcare, administrative and survey data sets to study complex patterns of health and care. In my current role, I am investigating geographic variation in the incidence of a range of long-term conditions among patients who have had a heart attack. Previously, I have worked with linked census and cancer patient data to analyse socio-economic trends in cancer survival.
