With over 300 sports teams and societies within  alone – plus another 30 set up and run by medics, for medics – there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Medicine societies

Medsoc is all about helping students at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ have the most memorable, exciting time while they study. Throughout the year, Medsoc arranges events to suit everyone, some specifically related to medicine and others just for fun. Popular events include the cocktail party, spring ball, summer barbecue, and ski trip.  

There are lots of opportunities for fancy dress, getting dressed to the nines and relaxing with friends after a hard day’s study, making studying at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ a guaranteed once-in-a-lifetime experience! Being a member of Medsoc also means you can access several great discounts throughout ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ too.

Medical School Representative Council (MSRC) is a society that represents every medical student in ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ and acts as a link between the School of Medicine and the student body.  

Representatives are appointed each year to collect feedback on the programmes of study and relay it to the School of Medicine so improvements can be made. MSRC also organises practice OSCEs for third years and helps fund medical sports teams and societies by raising money through various events. 

°Õ³ó±ð  also lists over 20 societies that offer medical students the opportunity to explore specialisms outside their course, meet like-minded students, and fit hobbies into their busy schedules.

Student profile: Ross Pointon 

My fellow students elected me as their career's representative on the MSRC. I’ll be helping to organise an elective event for final-year medical students and serving as a point of contact for any students seeking help with career advice or CV building.

Radiography society

RadSoc works tirelessly to bring students the best events and opportunities to socialise. It provides support throughout studies and ensures everyone’s time at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ is as fun as it is successful.  

Whether you're a student of radiography or not, if you're looking to get involved in some fantastic quiz nights, pub crawls, meals and day trips, then this is the society for you!  RadSoc also hosts exciting collaborative events with other societies, bringing us all together for some fun and friendly competition.

Medicine and Healthcare themed societies 

 is your one-stop shop for all things SURGERY! 

- If it all goes wrong when you're hours away from a hospital, in unforgiving conditions, or at the top of a mountain, then you'll be glad to have these skills. 

 is a brand-new society in aid of The British Heart Foundation, and we are joining in with their aim to “Beat Heartbreak Forever”! 

 is a student-run branch of the Anthony Nolan charity. 

 - Our volunteers are trained by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) as Community First Responders. 

 represent CoppaFeel! UK on campus and are on a mission to stamp out late detection of breast cancer. 

 is open to all students interested in mental health. 

ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ University Union and our Global Community

ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ is home to one of the largest student unions in the country.  exists to represent, support and entertain you throughout your time here. °Õ³ó±ð Union has over  to choose from: you can get involved in anything from football to chess, wine tasting to skydiving and dance to ‘a cappella’. You can even try your hand at Quidditch.  

°Õ³ó±ð LUU is also home to , from Afghan to Yemeni, so if you'd like to reconnect with some of our students and talk about home comforts, there's something for everyone. Our  also gives you the opportunity to meet students from over 150 countries and take part in a range of international activities.
