What is ATP?

  • Group therapy for people with aphasia
  • Program is offered by the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences through the Rees Clinic
  • Follows a  
    • Help people participate in the activities that are important to them
  • Join social conversation groups based on your interests
  • Talk with other people with aphasia, graduate student clinicians, trained volunteers, and faculty
    • Supervising faculty are state-licensed, nationally certified speech-language pathologists
  • The ATP Leadership Team includes:
    • Sophia Kanenwisher SLPD, CCC-SLP, ATP Director
    • Michelle Gravier PhD, CCC-SLP, ATP Research Director
    • Stephanie Williams M.S., CCC-SLP, ATP Clinical Supervisor
  • Join online or in-person

 


ATP Group Options


ATP Conversation Groups

  • 75 minutes
  • Monday and Wednesday 
  • Can attend multiple groups a day
  • Conversation group themes change every semester based on interest
  • Examples include:
    • Sports
    • News
    • Games
    • Cooking
    • Art
    • Travel
    • Aphasia Research
    • Peer Support

ATP Exercise Group

  • Work together with Kinesiology faculty and students
  • Gentle movement and stretching
  • Members can stand or sit
  • In-person on Wednesdays
  • Online Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Release form required

ATP Aphasia Tones Choir

  • In-person or online
  • Wednesday 1:30-2:45pm
    • Time varies by semester
  • Vocal warm-ups, sing popular songs, perform at a concert at the end of the semester
  • Aphasia-friendly visuals to help practice
  • No singing experience required

How to Apply

  • Include supporting papers such as medical records

Program Fees

  • In-person: one-time $50 materials fee per semester
  • Payable by cash, check, or credit card
  • Online services are supported fully by donations from the community
