Profile

I am a dedicated Research Project Manager and Community Leader with over 20 years’ experience in education, community engagement, and health research. Skilled at building partnerships between universities, local organisations, and under-represented communities, with a strong focus on tackling health and education inequalities, with a focus on socioeconomically deprived and diverse areas.

Alongside health research, I have over 10 years of teaching experience as an ESOL/Arabic language teacher and Primary Educator, committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and high-quality learning. I am a multilingual educator (fluent in English, Urdu, two dialects of Punjabi (standard & Mirpuri) and Arabic), enabling me to connect meaningfully with diverse communities.

My career combines academic research, project management, and community leadership, underpinned by a Master’s in Education (Leadership and Management).

I am driven by a commitment to equity, collaboration, and innovation, striving to create lasting impact through health research, education, and community partnerships.

  • To develop research active GP Practices in underserved areas of ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ
  • To develop a representative, inclusive and diverse PPIE group
  • To develop inclusive health research as a priority within the Division of Primary Care, Palliative C

Research interests

Currently leading the Deep End ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ project – committed to diverse and representative health research, with a collaborative PPIE focus, at the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Institute of Health Sciences, School of Medicine at The ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ. I specialise in developing inclusive Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) groups and advancing research networks that amplify marginalised voices. My current research prioritises are developing research active GP practices in areas of social and economic deprivation in ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ, including Chapeltown, Harehills, Seacroft and Beeston

Student education

I currently teach the PPIE Component at LIME (ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Institute of Medical Education), tutoring year 2 and 3 medical students, the importance and practicalities of PPIE.
