ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Exchange Program
Some of our exchange partners have created summer programs specifically for international students.  Interested students will need to be 'nominated' by the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Study Abroad office before starting the application for the host university.  Please contact studyabroad@csueastbay.edu for more details.

Check out the NSE page to see which NSE campuses can accept exchange students for summer.  Note: "with full-term enrollment" means they can accept NSE students for summer if the student will also be participating in exchange either the semester before or after summer term.

The Critical Language Scholarship Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages.  Each summer, CLS provides fully funded rigorous academic instruction in  critical to America's national security and economic prosperity Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.  Interested in CLS?  Contact ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ's CLS advisor kelly.moran@csueastbay.edu to learn more and start your application.

- Regional Flagship Initiatives
Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.S.  The are unique immersive language learning experiences which include a combined summer and fall program in a handful of target languages (as of 2025 those languages include: Swahili, Akan/Twi, Wolof, Zulu, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and French (in Senegal).)  For more information, contact ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ's Boren advisor kelly.moran@csueastbay.edu

Formerly known as the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship, the Douglass-O'Connell Global Internship selects a small cohort of students for a summer experience, fully funded by CIEE, the Government of Ireland, and the African American Irish Diaspora Network of Western Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.S.

  • Short term summer programs in the UK
  • U.S. undergraduates (with at least 2 years left in their degree program)
  • Minimum 3.7 gpa
  • Little or no prior international experience
  • Roundtrip airfare, tuition, housing and some meals are covered by the program
