In-Person Class Visits
Meet our Interim Ed.D. Co-Director, Dr. G. Reyes, and observe his class: EDLD 750 Critical Race Methodologies.
Course Description: Oppressive constructs such as colonialism, heteropatriarchy, and white supremacy have created a long tradition of manipulating qualitative research to justify the subjugation and erasure of minoritized peoples, through not only their bodies, but also their beliefs, their values, and their ways of being. This has been shown in qualitative research through both method (process) and knowledge (product). This course, then, draws from principles, ethics, and methods of various critical race methodologies as a way to explore the authenticity of truth-telling and voice through "counter-storytelling," the practice of narrating our own stories as legitimate knowledge. This course culminates into a celebratory and communal showcase where each student will read an excerpt from a writing piece that they have been developing throughout the semester.
