Dear Cal State East Bay community,
We are pleased to announce the establishment of a staff council on our campus. The ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ East Bay Staff Council (ÂÌñ»»ÆÞSC) will serve to promote communication between staff and campus leadership, support a positive and inclusive work environment, and address matters not covered by collective bargaining agreements. Similar to Cal State East Bay’s Extended Cabinet, which meets twice a semester with the President and the cabinet, ÂÌñ»»ÆÞSC will also meet twice a semester with the President and the cabinet.
ÂÌñ»»ÆÞSC will be made up of eight representative members who will represent the perspectives and interests of staff positions, roles, and divisions across the university. There will be two Presidential appointments to fill any gaps of missing positions or divisions.
There will be an online nomination process (self-nominations welcome) in a separate email and an online election process in June. All full-time staff are eligible. Not eligible are MPPs, Confidentials, or student staff.
Details about nominations, projected time commitments, duties and responsibilities as representatives, and length of appointment terms will be provided in a direct email to full-time staff.
The ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Staff Council will replace our more informal Staff Wellness Engagement and Enrichment Team (SWEET). Members of SWEET are encouraged to apply for Staff Council positions. We also acknowledge that the Academic Senate includes two staff senators. Those positions will continue under the purview of the Senate.
The ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Staff Council will serve as a means for the President and leadership to share updates on current and upcoming initiatives that may impact staff, as well as gather feedback from staff on a regular basis.
Sincerely,
Cathy Sandeen
President
